Miswak is a twig obtained from peelu tree, the scientific name of that tree is Salvadora persica. There are a lot of benefits of miswak and it has no side effects. If you want to know its benefits then please read our other article “Miswak Benefits”.

Using miswak is very easy and straight forward here are some steps you can follow to use it the right way.

Step 1 – Removing the Bark of the Twig

In first step you have to remove the bark or above shell of the twig so you will see the inner part of the twig which will be light in colour. Remove only 0.5 Inch or 1 Inch of bark and leave the other part of the twig as it is.

Step 2 – Making Bristles

Now for making bristles you have to chew the part from which you have removed the bark but keep in mind if that inner part is hard then first you have to soak that part in drinking water. You can do that by taking small amount of water in a glass and pour that open part in it for few hours or until it will become soft so you can easily chew it. After chewing the bristles become spreading and will further spread as you start to use them on your teeth.

Step 3 – How to Brush with It?

After making the bristles of the upper part now its time to use it on your teeth. The using procedure is same as you do brushing with you normal toothpaste and brush by cleaning each part of your mouth step by step.

Step 4 – Frequency of Use

You might be thinking that how many times in a day I can use it to clean my teeth or which time is best to use it? The best time and way to use it is after every meal, as it will remove all the food particles that have stuck in your teeth, leaving them clean and providing you fresh breath. Moreover it is important that you should wash it before every use.

Step 5 – Store in a Clean Place

After using the twig store it in a clear and dry area and always put it in a case or container so it will be protected from dust.

Step 6 – Removing the Old Bristles and Making New Ones

After using the twig 3 to 4 days it is important to remove the old bristles and form new bristles by repeating the step 1 and 2.
